Association seeks teachers
ITANAGAR, Jun 10: In a representation submitted to deputy director of school education, All Papu Valley Youth Welfare Association (APVYWA) has demanded subject teachers for the government schools in its areas. Association said that schools at Sede, Nere, Seba and Veo have been facing shortage of Mathematics, Science and Hindi teachers. It further urged the department to implement RTE properly and also demanded construction of boundary of various schools in Papu Valley areas.
Unfounded allegations: ALSU
ITANAGAR Jun 10: Arunachal Law Students Union (ALSU) today termed the allegations of financial mismanaged leveled against the then Chief Engineer (P) Eastern Zone as unfounded. It said the allegations made are not based on facts but based on certain unfounded allegation.
The Union said zone-
Equipped with RTI documents, the ALSU said, unfounded allegations were made and injustice was done to a person who did not commit any crime by paying salaries and wages to the staff.
Yesterday All Arunachal Pradesh Youth Contractors Welfare Association (AAPYCWA) also refuted the allegations leveled against the then CE (P) Eastern Zone.

State NCP eyes on youth power to strengthen party
ITANAGAR, Jun 10: Arunachal Pradesh unit of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) president Ngurang Pinch exhorted the party workers, particularly youths to involve themselves in innovative, creative, valid activities for strengthening the Party at grassroots level.
Addressing on the occasion of its 14th foundation day, Pinch asked the pary cadres and workers to resolve to promote the party's principles and ideologies, while emphasizing the active role of youths in spreading the message to the people about the programme and policies.
Referring to present “political imbroglio and systems of Arunachal Pradesh”, he urged the party colleagues and the grassroots level leaders to strengthen its base in the state.
Party’s State General Secretary Daniel Teli also urged the party rank and file to work together.

ULTYF felicitates the achievers
ITANAGAR, Jun 10: The United Leil Tara Youth Foundation (ULTYF) has felicitated its members Dr Tana Showren, Techi Henyir and Tana Chammaro for their outstanding achievements in their respective field of activities here yesterday.
While Dr Showren was appointed as Professor in the department of History, Rajiv Gandhi University, Henyir and Chammaro cracked recently conducted Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission Examination 2012. Henyir and Chammaro have been inducted as DSP in state police and CDPO respectively.
Dr Showren who teaches in Historical Methods and Ancient Societies in the RGU History
department started his career as Assistant Professor in same department in the year
1997. After 6 years of rigorous research and field study, he completed his Ph. D
on 25th November 2005 and was promoted to the post of Associate Professor in 2008.
Born in the year 1973, he graduated in history from Jawaharlal Nehru College, Pasighat
in 1993 and later in the year 1995 completed his master degree in ancient history
from North Eastern Hill University, Shillong. On the other hand, Henyir, ranked

Org calls 12 hrs Govt office bandh
ITANAGAR, Jun 10: Arunachal Pradesh Abo Tani Clans Youth Organization (APATCYO) has called for 12 hours government office bandh in Capital Complex on June 11 in protest against the alleged indifference attitude of the Govt towards its demand for immediate stoppage of ongoing construction of conventional hall at I G Park here.
The APATCYO, however, made it clear that bandh is confined only to Govt offices and business communities, vehicles movement, schools, hospital and other public utility services will be exempted from the purview of the bandh.
The Govt has failed to respond its ultimatum which was submitted on May 17 last in protest against construction of conventional hall in I G, Park, the organization resented. It demanded shifting of the project to Sangey Laden Sports Academy and immediate action against land encroachers at IG Park and Polo Park, Naharlagun.
Meanwhile, Capital Complex district administration today declared the proposed bandh on June 11 as illegal saying bandh call violates the fundamental rights of citizens and also causes untold miseries to common people. The administration imposed 144 CrPC during the bandh hours and prohibited assembly of four persons or more, except police, magistrates and construction workers on duty, within the 100 meters of Convention Hall site at Indira Gandhi Park.
ITANAGAR, Jun 10: The 37th literary sitting of Arunachal Pradesh Literary Society (APLS) was held at the J N State Museum here under the chairmanship of its president Y D Thongchi.
The literary sitting was initiated with a discussion on the forms of literature for the benefits of young literary aspirants. The APLS expressed happiness over the release of Soldier’s General, an autobiography by Gen (Retd) J J Singh, Governor of Arunachal Pradesh. The APLS members also expressed their joy over conferment of Saraswati Smriti Samman to its asstt general secretary Jamuna Binny by Purbottar Hindi Academy for her contribution in Hindi literature.
Earlier, the literary sitting began with the recitation of Summer, an English poem by Arunika Koley, followed by a short story by Habung Duniya, Freedom (English poem) by Lisa Ghosh, She (English poem) by Gaby M Damin, Sudhakantha Aru Atupi Sokulu (Assamese poem) by Inumoni Das Borah, Meghdutar Kashor Chakori (Assamese poem) by Achyut Kr Borah, A Tribute to Lummer Dai (English poem) by Roman Borah, Two Bengali poems – ‘Sukhe Thaka’ and ‘Bihuaan’ by Ramendra Nath Koley, Bura (Assamese poem) by Dr Pekba Ringu.
Among others, APLS vice president Dr Tage Tada and general secretary Tokong Pertin attended the meeting.
AAPSU demands CBSE branch office in state
ITANAGAR, Jun 10: All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) has appealed for setting up a branch office of Central Board of Secondary Examination (CBSE) in Arunachal Pradesh.
Absence of a CBSE office in the state is causing lots of hardship to the hundreds of poor students every year for minor problems like rechecking of examination results, obtaining lost certificates, mark sheets, correction of names etc., the apex students’ body of the state said in a memorandum to Education Minister.
The problem has grown manifold in the recent times due to increase in students population which necessitated the urgent setting up of the said CBSE branch office in the state immediately, the AAPSU memorandum said and appealed the Minister to look into the matter with utmost urgency.

Stay away from ENT quackery
Dear Editor,
As a doctor, I would like to offer an information and opinion on health fraud being practiced in the roadside near Rajiv Gandhi Stadium Naharlagun which is not at all safe and effective for the public. Some of the quacks, who claimed to be the Ayurvedic physicians, are performing dangerous procedure of cleaning the sinus diseases, ear wax etc. When I saw the procedure being performed, I was shocked to see that the instrument made of iron is attempted to puncture from the site in the nose to enter into the maxillary sinus which is few mm away from the danger area of the face.
The sinus wash procedure, which is being done only by ENT specialist in a proper OT set up in hospital with written consent from the patient, is being done by the quack in a roadside near the corner of the stadium wall where people urinate, without taking any antiseptic and aseptic measures. The procedure itself can lead to eye swelling, blindness and shock. The unsterilized instrument can easily induce the dangerous infection like tetanus and others which can easily spread to brain causing fatal meningitis. The single sharp pointed instrument is being used in every patient to clean the ear wax, without sterilization which can easily transmit hepatitis B and HIV in case of trauma while cleaning or in presence of any boil, discharge in the ear canal.
The claims they made of curing the sinus diseases is absolutely false and misleading to the innocent public and there is no validated scientific evidence. The procedure is high risk of causing potentially severe complications’ and irreversible damaged to sinus, ear and other structure of the face. Therefore, general public are warned to stay away from such quackery and concerned authorities are requested to check such health fraud for safety of public health .

What is the problem ?

I would like to know the problem of education department East Siang district in declaring the interview results for the posts of peon cum lab attendant, LDC and lab assistant under Advertisement no. ED 2/126/Advert/2011/. Other districts have already declared interview results and also appointed candidates in the respective posts mentioned above. It is against RTE
Dear Editor,
This is in support of the news items “Federation condemns….” ( on June 9) regarding collection of fee from the students. I too extremely agree with All Arunachal Pradesh Youngster United Federation’s condemnation because it is completely neglecting the RTE Act. The Constitution (86th Amendment) Act, 2002 has inserted a new Article 21A after Article 21 in the RTE. The new Article 21A deals with Right to Education saying that “the State shall provide free and compulsory education to all children of the age 6 to 14 years in such manner as the state may, by law, determine”. So, collection of Rs.200 as school fees by the various government schools across the state are not a right step and against the spirit of RTE. I do hope that concern minister will look into the matter positively very soon.

Woes of retired Govt servants
Dear Editor,
I would like to highlight some basic problems faced by the retired Govt. employees. As per the High Court, Itanagar permanent bench judgment, the pension case of the retired persons should have to be settled within four months from the date of the retirement of incumbent. But it is very unfortunate that, after several months and years of retirement, the retired people are roaming around and requesting the concerned department for clearing their pension papers.

The pathetic work ethic
Dear Editor,
This is written with a lot of anguish and frustration over the functioning of the SBI banks in Itanagar and Naharlagun. Patience is a virtue that seems alien to them. Worst of all is their impeccable talent of keeping things in the dark from the customers. This is regarding the closure of car loan that I had taken four years back. The SBI officials constantly deducted huge sum of money from my account on various pretext. It was not until my patience exploded in their office that they bothered to help. The grievance is not only against their pathetic work ethic but also their arrogance. They need to learn a lesson or two on transparent accountability. Considering we live in a society where the majority is assumed to be ignorant especially of the apparently sophisticated nature of bank work, the officials seem to be under the impression that they have the upper hand. They refused to divulge me the details of those various alleged reasons on the basis of which they were deducting huge amounts from my account. They refused to even consider me eligible for understanding their allegedly sophisticated workings. On top of that, I am billed with several thousands to pay. All I can do now is channelize my anguish into productive writing as this.

Poaching a major threat to wild animal
The poaching has become a major threat to survival of wild animals in North Eastern
states of India. Our neighbouring state of Assam is still fighting against the poachers
